The girls cross country team won it’s first state championship ever–and did it on their first outing in Division 2.
The team posted an impressive overall score of 77 to runner up Grand Rapids Christian’s 145. Olivia Theis set a new course record running the fastest time in the history of the meet, IN ALL DIVISIONS with a 16:52.1. Lauren Cleary placed 3rd overall with 17:43, Jaden Theis placed 5th with 18:18 and Grace Frost rounded out the medal stand at 26th with 19:15. Teammates Rachel Reid, Addison Puck and Maya Hecksel all posted great finishes with most runners getting a PR on the day.
Coach Tim Simpson was on hand as the school celebrated the teams success during a morning assembly. Camaraderie, off-season conditioning and dedication were just some of the factors coach mentioned which contributed to the team winning 1st place in all but two of its races this season.
The boys team of Colin Cooper, James Fedewa, Eli Meder, Sammy Migaldi, Will Peters, Ryan Schroeder and Eric Warriner, placed 3rd overall in D2 with 165.
