The Greater Lansing Championship, held at Ledge Meadows GC in Grand Ledge on October 14, was the best ever showing for the LCHS cross country program.
The boys and girls both won 1st place overall. For the boys team is was the first ever 1st place win in program history. For the girls team, it was the third in four years and the fourth in school history.
Olivia Theis was 1st overall breaking her own meet record (17:26). Lauren Cleary was 3rd (her 3rd top 3 finish in 3 years), Jaden Theis was 4th and Grace Frost was 28th as four girls medaled. Rachel Reid was 5th runner in 39th place.
The boys ran another great race as a team again with a tight pack, separated only by 11 seconds from the 1st through 5th runner, led by Ryan Schroeder in 10th, Eli Meder 13th, James Fedewa 19th, Will Peters 20th and Eric Warriner 21st. To show the strength of the boys pack, there have been three different boys who have been the #1 runner for them this season.
Cross country runs the league meet on Saturday, October 21 in Portland. If you haven’t had a chance to catch the XC runners in action, come out to the regionals at Uncle Johns Cider Mill on Friday, October 27 where the teams will run for the chance to compete at the state meet. The girls race is at 3:00 PM and the boys race at 4:00 PM.
