Underdog Lansing Sexton gave the Cougars all they could handle in their District Opener.
Playing everyone on defense the entire game, Sexton was able to keep the barrage of Cougar shots out of the net in regulation.
Overtime was more of the same. Sexton packed it in and delayed as much as possible, sending the match to Penalty Kicks.
Lansing Catholic was confident and poised, triumphantly edging out Sexton 4-2 in penalty kicks. Alec Gonzalez, Remy Collard, Jack Gonzalez scored, then Robert Ramierez clinched it with the 4th PK. Matthew Benivegna had a crucial save in the PKs to help the Cougars survive and advance.
District Semi-Finals are Wednesday, October 19 versus arch rival Williamston. Game time is 7:00 pm at the Lansing Catholic Cougar Stadium.
