Multiple Teams · Cougars Advance in CAAC Silver Cup

Last Thursday the rain held off for Game #1 in the CAAC Silver Cup against the Owosso Trojans. The Cougars were up 0-1 at the half with a goal by Olivia Poupard (assist Shannon Crilley). The second half Keighen Morely scored two goals (assist Sophie Collard and Abigail Gilmore) and assisted in Tori Sailar’s goal. Lock-down defense by Sophie, Christina Kuhnmuench, Jessie Plaehn, Kyra Wieber, Amy Heller and goalkeeper Larisa Herdus gave the Cougars their 7th shutout of the season with a 4-0 win.

Game #2 in the CAAC silver cup was played Tuesday night against Jackson High School. Shannon Crilley starts the game with a perfect cross for Abigail Gilmore to neatly finish from the far post giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead at the half. Goalkeeper Olivia Poupard has 2 saves in the first half before she leaves the game with an injury. Christina Kuhnmuench takes over as goalkeeper and adds 2 more saves. Claire Smalley, Megan Lycos, Riley McCann and Amy Heller’s effective passing and commitment to winning 50-50 balls along with Jessie Plaehn, Tori Sailar, Sophie Collard and Kyra Wieber’s unbreachable back line allow the Cougars to hold on to their half time score and win 1-0.

Cheer the Cougars on tonight for the CAAC Cup Final Game against Grand Ledge at 5:30 in Williamston.
