Girls’ Golf Successful at States

Forest Akers West was host to the Division 4 Girls’ Golf State Championship Friday and Saturday, October 14 and 15.

Coming into the tournament seeded 9th, the Cougars finished 8th after shooting 395 both days.  The team was led by senior Abigail Meder who placed 5th overall with a two-day total 162.

Seniors Alyssa Rodriguez and Keighen Morley had a strong finish to their careers and Grace Castle was in the top ten going into the second round.  Addison Johns gained experience at the state level on Friday as she stepped in and played for an ill Erin Murphy.  Murphy returned on Saturday and to post a solid round for the Cougars.

The girls’ golf team team finished the season winning the league championship; winning 1st place in the league with Alyssa Rodriguez as all-league honorable mention, Grace Castle, Keighen Morley and Abigail Meder all-league; and taking 8th out of 18 teams at the state tournament.
