Last week the girls’ golf team played 45 holes over three days, winning 1st place in the CAAC white division 4-0, winning the CAAC White Conference Championship tournament and placing 2nd at regionals to advance to the state finals.

Season low scores were set at the Conference Championship held at Wheatfield Valley  on Monday, October 3, with Abigail Meder shooting a 70, Grace Castle an 85 and Keighen Morley an 86.  Erin Murphy, Alyssa Rodriguez and Addison Johns posted solid rounds as the team finished with a 346, 60 strokes ahead of second place Portland.

The final CAAC jamboree was held at Rolling Hills in Ionia on Tuesday, October 4 where both the JV and varsity teams handily beat the field.

The regional round on Wednesday, October 5 at Glenbrier Golf Course proved challenging for the Lady Cougars as standing water and pin placements forced conservative play and high scores.  Keighen Morley and Grace Castle placed in the top five with a 93 and 98, respectively and Abigail Meder took first place overall with an 86. Solid scores from Erin Murphy and Alyssa Rodriguez proved critical as the Cougars took second place by seven strokes.

The state tournament takes place this Friday and Saturday, October 14 and 15 at Forest Akers West with tee off at 10:00 am.  This is the final local state tournament for the Lady Cougars for two years as the D4 tournament moves to the west side of the state for the 2017 and 2018 tournaments.  Take the opportunity to support your Lady Cougars this weekend at Forest Akers West!
