The Lansing Catholic Soccer Team has been eliminated from Districts two out of the past three seasons by Williamston. After losing to the Hornets in overtime just two months ago, the Cougars squad knew they squandered an opportunity to finally beat the Hornets. Instead, they set their sights on eliminating Williamston from Districts.

Things didn’t look good early, as Williamston’s Eli Richardson was able to place a fantastic chip shop over GK Matthew Benivegna less than five minutes into the game. However, in front of a raucous home-field crowd, the Cougars quickly seized control of the game.
The senior-laden Cougar squad would not be denied in the second half. Remy Collard took a pass from Mike Hollis and ripped a left-footed screamer past the Williamston goalie for the equalizer. Lansing Catholic continued to apply pressure, but couldn’t find the back of the net again. Teams played evenly in Overtime, and for the second time in three nights, the game would be decided by Penalty Kicks:
Williamston – miss wide right
Alec Gonzalez – make
 1-0 LCHS
Williamston  – make
Remy Collard – make
2-1 LCHS
Williamston  – make
Chuck Plaehn – make
3-2 LCHS
Williamston – miss right
Jack Gonzalez – WINNER!!!
4-2 LCHS
Cheer on the boys this Saturday, October 22nd @ 3:00 pm as they take on Leslie High School in the district final at Lansing Catholic Cougar Field.  Go COUGARS!
